November Book Review
Happy BOOK REVIEW DAY!!!! Love this monthly post of mine. And, LOVE sharing great books with all of you.
Let me just put this meme here for a minute . . .
This was so me a few times this month. We hosted people over Thanksgiving for 10 days, and on Thanksgiving Day I did not leave my room until 11:15am. It was glorious! I read a book, relaxed, and was SUUUPER thankful for the quiet time.
This month, I went HEAVY on the chick lit . . . three easy reads and one heavier, meatier book. It was a busy month, and I just needed to do some easy lifting. LOVED all of them!
Oh . . . and before we get started . . . I am coming out with some GIFT GUIDES for books in the next couple of days. So, be watching for that! Yeah!
Enjoy The View by Sarah Morgenthaler
Last December, I read the first book in this precious trilogy, The Tourist Attraction . . . it was ADORABLE! In January, I immediately read the second book, Mistletoe and Mr. Right, and loved it just as much. I love how the main characters in one book are continually developed in the next. Super Cute. Well, imagine my excitement when I discovered that a third book was coming out this fall. Yes please!
Enjoy The View follows Easton Lockett, Moose Springs’ resident mountain guide, as he is roped into helping River Lane produce a documentary for the Alaskan Tourism Department. Easton is set in his ways as a native Alaskan, and River is a failing actress trying to revive her career by being behind the camera. I laughed my way through this one. Slightly rated a hard PG-13 in certain parts, but generally sweet, precious, and adorable. This has made me want to go to Alaska and climb mountains with random people.
This really gave The Tourist Attraction a run for its money as my favorite of this series. Beautiful town with lovable characters, and a sweet story where you cheer for people to find love. A Hallmark movie type of book.
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab
Y’all. This book! I was PUMPED to discover that this book is now set to be made into a movie. I will be there opening night, and CANNOT wait to see who they cast as Addie Larue!
This book is DEFINITELY in the running as one of my favorites for 2021. I truly loved this book and its unique story line.
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue follows Addie, a twenty-three year old woman living in the 1700s. She is set to marry a man that she does not like, and escapes to the outskirts of town just before the wedding. It is there that through her prayers, she mistakenly makes a wish with the devil to get her out of this life that she is being forced to live. As you can imagine, the devil isn’t known to be someone that is fair, and through some technicalities, Addie is thrust into a life where she never dies and no one ever remembers her. Thus, she lives an invisible life.
After three hundred years on Earth, Addie has lived a life of solitude as she has witnessed countless inventions, wars, rulers, and illnesses. And, then one day, Addie runs into someone that remembers her. How could that be? Oh y’all. I can’t say anymore. I can’t stop thinking about this book. I have truly thought over and over what I would do if I were Addie Larue. The strength it must have taken her to not go mad from her loneliness. Ugh! Such an interesting concept!
Please read this book, and let me know what you think. PG-13 rating. LOVE!
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey
Well, well, well . . . It Happened One Summer is a steamy rom-com type of book, and I am HERE FOR IT! In fact, I may read it again on an upcoming trip. It is sweet, hilarious, endearing, did I mention steamy?
Piper is a LA socialite that has gone too far with her shenanigans and her parents force her to move to the Pacific Northwest where her family once lived. They hope that a few months in the real world, and without an endless bank account, will teach her some necessary lessons on how to grow up and be a respectful member of society.
Brendan has lived in this town all his life and has ZERO tolerance for Piper’s chaotic arrival into town, and does his very best to make sure it is known that she is not wanted.
You know what happens here, people. Enemies turn friends turn more? Really LOVE the characters in this book, and plan on looking at the Pacific Northwest during my next Zillow daydreaming session. And, y’all know me well enough to know that “steamy” means rated R over here at Lunchbox Babies. Just know that going in please! SO CUTE!
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Sweet, cute, easy read. Especially if you can get past all of the scientific jargon. I made a 69.5 in Chemistry while in the 10th grade, so I had to push through some parts on this one, friends. Memorizing the Periodic Table is not one of my strengths.
The Love Hypothesis follows Olive as a third year PH.D student at Stanford. In an effort to encourage her best friend to go out with another guy, Olive ends up getting herself into a situation where she is “fake-dating” a tenured professor, Adam Carlsen. This “fake-dating” scenario benefits them both in different ways . . . until it doesn’t and the feelings become real.
Again, this is rated R. What’s up with the books I chose this month, y’all? There are a couple of chapters that are on the saucy side of steamy. Super cute though, and an easy read!

That’s it for today! As always, send me your recommendations and let me know what you have read above. I always love to hear your thoughts! XO
