The summer of the staycation
Reid & I have always loved to travel. We are big fans of exploring new cities, new cultures, and of course, room service. Within the top 3 items of my travel favorites: Room Service in bed while watching the Today Show. Love!
As we started dealing with infertility treatments, those trips either stopped completely or turned into staycations! It is hard to make the frequent trips to the doctor for blood work and sonograms when you are bouncing around the country for work and pleasure. And, let’s be honest, it is hard to spend money on fun trips when your entire bank account is going towards infertility treatments. I know I have used this meme before, but I love it. So, here you go again . . .
Probably not the best thing to share, but I lost my filter the moment I started writing this blog! SO . . . the IUI cycle that I got pregnant with Harlan? I brought my shots with me to Las Vegas, and stashed them in the hotel mini bar fridge. I have a vivid memory of getting up from the roulette table to go upstairs to my room in The Palms Resort and Casino to jab myself with some stimulation drugs. Super classy. But, hey, we got pregnant with Harlan. I guess Vegas isn’t all that bad! 😉
Because life, miracle boys, a crazy dog, and again, life, we don’t go on a ton of trips. We discovered a few years ago that the Four Seasons in Las Colinas (15 – 20 minutes from my house in Dallas) is like a vacation down the street. Seriously. Check out these pictures!
It is AMAZING!!!!! Whenever you go out there, it feels like you are on vacation. Fabulous service, amazing amenities, great food . . . I could go on and on. Jackson takes golf lessons out there once a week, so I take a little “vacation” out there on a weekly basis. Heavenly.
Some great friends and I played hooky last Friday, and spent the afternoon at the pool and the evening outside at one of the restaurants. As someone told me today, “sometimes you just need a moment.” Amen!
I know that some of my blog readers are dear friends that are so kind in their support of me and my little blog (Hi guys!). And, I know that some you are sweet women that I have had the pleasure of getting to know along this journey. Women that have walked, or are walking, a very similar journey to mine. We all need a break people! Even just a small one! There are a couple of GREAT deals below for you. One is more expensive, and one is on the cheap! Please look into them, and TREAT YOURSELF! Make this the summer of the staycation. There is nothing wrong with escaping your problems, your to do lists, or your life. Just for a minute.
AWESOME DEALS:
- The Four Seasons Las Colinas Guest Experience department tells me that the most popular room package is the Third Night Free promotion. You get a complimentary third night with every two consecutive paid nights. What a FUN long weekend this summer or fall with your friends or your significant other!! Yes please!
- Resort Pass! Okay, this is SO fun, and I had no idea that several resorts around the country do this! So, if you don’t live in Dallas, check it out for resorts in your area! The Resort Pass is for anyone that is NOT staying at the hotel and NOT a member of any club associated with the hotel. So, for the Four Seasons, pick your date (it looks like July 4th is not an option, sorry), and you can buy a pass that will let you vacation at the resort pool for the day. It starts at $40/person. You can enjoy the resort pool, have lunch at the Agave Pool bar, and just feel like you are on vacation. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING THIS!!!!!! To purchase a resort day-pass, click on https://resortpass.com/ and go to the Four Seasons Las Colinas! ENJOY!
It feels like summer in Dallas already, and I am READY! Last summer was THE WORST, so I am very much looking forward to summer of 2018! Staycation, anyone? XOXO
