Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! I hope that everyone has had a great week! I have a VERY random assortment of Friday Favorites for you today! Let’s get the weekend started!!

ONE

Next week is SPRING BREAK, and I am SO excited! The Beucler Four head of out of town tomorrow afternoon, and we are spending the week on an island off the coast of Florida. My sister-in-law and I came up with the brilliant idea of renting a house for the week for our two families to relax and have fun. We discovered a couple of weeks ago that the house we rented is on a island with ZERO cars. Only golf carts and bicycles are used on the island, and we can only get there by ferry. Two thirds of the island is a National Wildlife Reserve, and there are less than 400 homes on the entire thing. I already knew this was going to be a relaxing trip, but finding out this information has just made it jump up on the relaxation scale for me. This is going to be such an adventure.

Of course, Reid and I have been laughing so hard about having to go hunt for our meals, living an actual episode of Lost (if you have never watched this show, binge watch over the summer . . . I am sure it is on Netflix!), and making a new version of Gilligan’s Island with the other vacationers. We seriously cannot wait to get there . . . it felt like 10 degrees earlier this week. TEN! So, the beach will be nice. As will relaxing with the family. Of course, this could be a new edition of Survivor. We will see. Ha! I may take y’all along on the adventure in my Lunchbox Babies Instagram stories. It will be so awesome, but I am sure will also come with some fabulous stories!

TWO

If you didn’t get the chance to read Wednesday’s post, click here. I have had several women reach out to me about this precious book. Let me just say two things in response to the questions I am getting:

  1. YES. If you think you need this book to share with your children, then YES! Get it! The boys still talk about Sophie from time to time, and this will be a book we get out at some point during one of those conversations.
  2. Read this on your own FIRST. Before you read with your children. I am saying this because you will CRY, possibly an ugly cry. It is a beautiful book, but it does bring up those raw emotions.

Leah Vis is a mom of four, and has experience with her own story of loss. Her perspective is so spot on, and her writing style is beautiful. Love this book!

THREE

I showed this on my IG stories a couple of weeks ago. Y’all. I LOVE THIS! This is the perfect cleansing mask when you have been a little rough on your skin. After a few days in the sun, not enough water, and not the smartest food and drink choices, I pulled one of these out the day after we came back from the Bahamas. Miracle Worker. Each packet contains one black cloth mask. You put it on your face and smooth it onto your skin so it stays. Over the course of the next few minutes, the cleanser foam activates itself and the black cloth turns white with suds. You then pull off the mask, massage in the leftover cleanser, and then rinse with warm water. Your skin will feel like BUTTER! I am usually pretty hard on my skin during the summer months, so I am going to stock up on these. Definitely a once a week staple for me! I believe these are sold at Sephora, but I grabbed mine here at Amazon!

FOUR

This is one of our FAVORITE new shows! It airs on Sunday nights on CBS, and I highly recommend to all of you! It is so refreshing to see a prime time show that discusses God in this way.

Here is the back story of the show . . . Miles is an atheist. His father is the head minister at Harlem Episcopal Church in NYC, but after Miles’ mother died early in his life, he turned away from God. Now in his late-20s, Miles has created a podcast called “The Millennial Prophet”, and it started as way to discount the existence of God. His podcast is doing well, and then God friended him on Facebook. Super random, right? He decides to play along, and then God starts sending him friend requests of random people. Every time he accepts a request he ends up finding the person and helping them with something major in their life. The “God account” starts to change the lives of everyone in this show, for the better! And, of course, there is the ongoing mystery of who is behind this “God account” and what is their motivation? Is it God? Is it someone else? We love this show, and are always excited to see when we have a new one to watch!

I would say that as long as your kids are over the age of 13, this could be great for the entire family. There are some story lines that deal with very grown up issues, and I would just prefer to keep that away from my kiddos for a bit longer. Just a great show! If you have watched it, let me know your thoughts! And, if you haven’t, go start binge-watching ASAP!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
